Overview

Summer Enrichment Program (S.E.P.) has been developed by the College of Education (C.O.E.) at Northern Arizona University in an effort to prepare motivated students from diverse backgrounds to succeed academically in high school programs while helping them to consider future educational opportunities. S.E.P. takes place on the campus of Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. Each session is one week long, and students enroll in one course. This intense immersion allows students to develop academic focus and strengthen study skills as well as knowledge content. Students also take part in a rich social environment, live in an N.A.U. dormitory with resident assistants, and take part in activities ranging from sports, to arts and crafts, to special events such as dances or karaoke. All activities and levels of supervision are designed to be age-appropriate for pre-collegiate students.

Each participating student is provided with rigorous academic enrichment, skill building experiences, leadership activities, and social and cultural interaction. Through diverse student composition, differing backgrounds and personal perspectives, students experience a rich summer program. In addition, each student receives academic counseling and advocacy, designed to provide on-going guidance and support during their N.A.U. summer experience and beyond.
